 HALL OF FAME BOOK CLUB -TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH, AT 6:00 PM AT THE MUSEUM

BOOK TO BE DISCUSSED: RUN WITH THE HORSEMEN, BY FERROL SAMS.

Dr. Sams was a physician who took up writing fiction at 60 years old with this, his first novel, in 1982. He became a best selling author of eight novels, and gained critical acclaim, including the coveted Townsend Prize for Fiction in 2001.

Dr Sams was inducted in the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame in 2007.

Run With The Horsemen is a delightful and captivating story of a young boy coming of age during the Great Depression in rural Georgia. The first novel of a trilogy of an ambitious and achieving young man with a desire to become a doctor and in the process of learning the rough and tumble of farm life.

The Georgia Writers Hall of Fame recognizes Georgia writers, past and present, whose work reflects the character of the state — its land and people. 

Every fall since 2002, University of Georgia Libraries l Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library has hosted The Georgia Writers Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony to name new inductees into this distinguished collection of writers.

The Georgia Writers Hall of Fame Book Club meets quarterly at 109 S. Jefferson Street in Eatonton, Georgia, and features a book written by one of the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame writers.  Jack Shinneman, the founder of the museum leads the discussion.
